Mark Haddock

Dip.Couns MBACP

I'm a qualified Counsellor working with a broad range of issues and mental health problems. I currently split my time between private practice and corporate work.  I have also worked in the Education sector and  held the post of Counselling Lead in a secondary school before moving into private practice.

I believe we all have the resources within us to be who we want to be, but sometimes we lose our way, often as a result of significant events or changes in our lives. When this happens, the view we have of ourselves can be fragmented like a jigsaw puzzle whose pieces don’t fit. Talking to a professional, unrelated to you or the problem, in a non-judgemental and safe environment, can help you find your way back to a happier and healthier way of being.

As a person-centred counsellor, my role is one of a facilitator in your personal development. I do this by walking alongside you as you examine the pieces of your life that don’t feel right. I listen and try to understand what it’s like from your persective. Feeling heard and understood increases self-knowledge and is often the starting point for significant, positive change. Working together, it is possible to create a new picture where the pieces fit again. Where you feel, more comfortable, more able, and hopefully, happier in your skin.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with adults and young people (11 to 17) for a wide range of presenting issues and in a range of settings.

My preferred way of working is face to face but I frequently work online over Zoom. I try to be flexible to accommodate the needs of my clients. In doing so, I have offered walking and talking therapy and have even worked by text message when required.

As a qualified Counsellor I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Reg. No.392913. I have undertaken specialist training in the areas of:

  • Children & Young People
  • Bereavement
  • Sexual Abuse

As part of my commitment to working ethically and safely, I undertake ongoing professional development and training.
